My Dog Wouldn’t Bite a Flea

So many people just turn their dog loose and let them run. They think Fido is the sweetest thing that would never harm a fly — or a flea for that matter. Well let me tell you about Fido. 

Dogs are pack animals and when they get in a pack horrible things happen. Just yesterday a small child was attacked and severely injured by a pack of three to four dogs. Everybody is so crazy about blaming Pitbulls. Do you know which breed is most often the culprit in dog bites? Labradors lead the pack with the most number of attacks, which is a surprising discovery when taking into account the mild nature of the dogs. All breeds have prey drive and left over instincts from their ancestry. 

When you turn your dog loose to run, you are not only putting his life in danger, you are putting the whole neighborhood in danger. It will be awful if he gets hit by a car. But it will be tragic if he bites someone. If he attacks a child it will be worse than tragic. On the low side you will be responsible for his medical bills, and when you add in pain and suffering, lawyers bills, and everything else that will more than likely happen, it could ruin you financially for life.  But even worse than that, this child will be scarred for life. Not only physically, but emotionally. 

Oh but I live in the country so it's okay.  NO ITS NOT OKAY! Do you know what 99% of the dogs will do when they see a chicken, turkey, cow, goat, sheep or horse run?  They will chase it. There is a huge chance that they will attack it. If it's poultry, they are going to start killing as many of them as they can. It's in their nature to chase something that runs from it. 

What do you think that farmer is going to do when he sees Fido killing his chickens or chasing his prize bull? You live in the country you should know the rules. It's called S.S.S. That's Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up. If you're lucky, the farmer will just sue you for damages. Know what chickens are priced at? $20-$40 per head. Turkeys average $50-$80 each. Now how much do you think that prize bull is going to cost you when they chase him through a fence and he gets hit by a car?

Long story short, Keep your dog and the whole neighborhood safe by simply keeping your dog contained.
